PROJECTS

Detroit Athletic Club

Detroit, MI

There are big changes coming to Downtown Detroit! The city of Detroit is making a huge comeback. The auto industry is booming, young professionals are moving to the city at a rapid rate, construction has begun on the new home for the Red Wings -the Arena District- and world class restaurants are popping up all over the place. Speaking of restaurants, B&B Glass crews are hard at work on the new roof top addition at the Detroit Athletic Club in Downtown Detroit. For the past eight weeks, four men have been busy hoisting curtain wall and glazing materials to the roof, seven stories up. We are installing about 3,000 sq.ft. of aluminum glazed curtain walls, six Nanawall bi-folding glass doors, and a glass guard rail around the perimeter of the roof. The DAC has a birds-eye view of Comerica Park and Ford Field. B&B Glass is so happy to be a part of the ongoing revival of the great city of Detroit!

Ferris State University
Big Rapids, MI

The new 25 million dollar University Student Center at Ferris State in Big Rapids is officially complete! B&B has been on-site for the past year and a half installing aluminum glazed curtain wall, column covers, composite panels, metal siding, aluminum framing, mirrors, and decorative glass handrails. This huge project was very demanding and much of it was completed during frigid winter conditions. Hats off to all of our hard working men that put in up to 65 hours per week for the past few months, often working from 6:30 am – 10:00 pm! This new building serves as the university center, with cafeteria, book store, student orientation, IT department, and much more.

Westland City Hall
Westland, MI

B&B Glass recently put the finishing touches on the all-new Westland City Hall. This beautiful 64,000 sq. ft. governmental center houses most of Westland’s city departments. The scope of work consisted of installation of composite wall panels, column covers, interior storefront, fire rated framing assemblies, aluminum curtain wall, custom fabricated sunshades, and skylights. We started in the winter of 2014 and just wrapped things up at the end of September. B&B Glass initially had 6 skilled craftsmen on the job daily, but the project began to run behind schedule. In the last few weeks, B&B Glass had 8 men working nights and weekends to have it completed by the scheduled opening date.

MKO Medical Facility
Livonia, MI

B&B Glass recently put the finishing touches on the MKO Medical Facility in Livonia. Crews installed 4,000sq. ft. of glazed aluminum curtain wall systems from YKK, and 3,000 sq. ft. of composite metal panels, fabricated by Royalton Architectural Products. B&B Glass worked closely with the engineers to help design and execute several waterproofing details on the exterior facade. Additionally, B&B was commended for our attention to detail and ability to assist with the building design details.

Lincoln Park High School
Lincoln Park, MI

This project was the fourth phase of renovation for the high school and was big undertaking for our glass division. Our scope of work included the removal of single-pane glass at the gymnasium, replacing it with translucent panels; installation of translucent panels in the pool area; and a complete storefront system at three building entrance locations.

The installation of the translucent panels in the gymnasium required precise field measurements because the custom radius panels had to match the existing building’s openings. Some of the unique challenges faced by our crew included installing these panels over the gym floor while it was being resurfaced and installing panels over the swimming pool while the pool was in use. It was essential to keep both areas free from even the smallest debris.

This project also entailed a storefront system complete with FRP doors, custom color aluminum frames, blue tinted spandrel glass, and composite metal wall panels. All of these were retro-fit items that were custom manufactured and installed.

In addition to the challenges presented by the building conditions, the project was to be completed in 60 days. The entire 10,000 sq. ft. of work was completed on time, all while maintaining our commitment to the highest level of craftsmanship.

Fremont Middle School
Fremont, OH

B&B Glass expertly installed a variety of energy efficient systems on this new construction project, Located in Fremont, OH, all while adhering to the deadline for the school district to open its doors for the 2012 winter semester. B&B Glass was selected based on our our expertise in energy efficient systems, and remained dedicated in making this a LEED-certified project.

We played an integral role in helping the design team achieve their goal of creating a "Green" building, starting with the design phase and continuing through the finished installation.  With the Low-E glass - that was selected specifically for the area - and the architectural sunshades used to reduce light transmission into the classrooms, Fremont Middle School was able to obtain the most prestigious LEED Platinum Certification.  The general contractor applauded B&B Glass for our commitment to the finest workmanship.

2l42 Community Church
Brighton, MI

The 2l42 Community Center located in Brighton MI, started off as an old warehouse that was to be transformed into a contemporary house of worship.   The owner and the general contractor knew they had to call on an elite contractor who could help design build the numerous details on this project.

Butcher and Butcher Construction Co., Inc., working in conjunction with its glass division, B&B Glass, served as the project's single-source glass, sheet metal and roofing contractor.  The B&B team hammered out an endless series of custom details to piece together much of this appealing and unconvetional facade.

The end result was a watertight building and a satisfied owner.
